Do you remember the project or repair whereby you realized that duct tape is a magic gift from the potent gods of industrial civilization? If involved with photography or video production, you might have even experienced the rarified air of gaffer's tape. Well, that same emotional welling of gratitude towards useful goods should extend to Gear Aid's Tenacious Tape, especially if you enjoy backpacking and camping. This "tape" is more like a very simple DIY patch kit ready for tents, puffy jackets, backpacks, and more. It is made of very thin but very strong ripstop nylon (similar to many tent fabrics) and has a very strong adhesive. It is sold in rolls that are only 3" x 20," but it sill feels like a bargain at $5 given its utility. If repairs made to my main sleeping bag, favorite day pack, tent footprint, and most-frequently-used insulated jacket are any indication, Tenacious Tape not only works but lasts the duration (all of the "repairs" mentioned above have held perfectly for at least a couple of years.) If ever using Tenacious Tape, be sure to follow the manufacturer's directions and cut rounded corners or circular shapes for best adhesion. This epiphany of rounded corners changed my tape strategy for life, no matter the genus, so I can further thank Gear Aid for that. Go forth and heal thy wounds…
