I'm pretty sure I love the Mountain Hardwear Lamina 35 sleeping bag, though she is a bit frigid in the sack. I don't mean "frigid" as in temperature, but in temperament. But first the good stuff… The bag is light; packs down very small in its supplied compression sack; offers high-performance synthetic fill perfect for those of us who camp in misty, humid southeastern mountains; and is toasty warm for its rating. The Lamina 35 does, however, have a very (and I mean very) finicky, snag-prone zipper that takes some subtle coaxing to open. All zipping and unzipping requires a delicate touch and some gentle loving. Those into a rougher night under the sheets might be disappointed despite the bag's otherwise warm and receptive embrace.
I only write haikus inspired by gear I use, respect, and appreciate having the luxury of owning. I am not paid, compensated, or even given this gear. I purchased all as a regular consumer. If that changes in future haikus, I will disclose.
Where to buy:
(NOTE: I own the 2012 version; the link below is to the newer models which, unfortunately, appears to have inherited the finicky zipper based on REI reviews)
REI for $180.
